Emma Laitala: Athlete Trainer With 10+ Years of Experience
Fitness isn’t one-size-fits-all, and we get that. Emma Laitala is a qualified trainer, passionate about fitness and athletic workout routines. With decades of experience in this field, she brings a result-oriented approach to every session. Her guidance will help you reach greater heights, no matter the sport you play.
Emma isn’t just a certified personal trainer—she’s one of the first in Australia to be qualified in the Weck Method, a movement system that’s changing the way people train. Instead of sticking to traditional routines, she focuses on rotational movement and coiling patterns, which are ideal for improving balance, coordination, and athletic power.
But her expertise doesn’t stop at physical training. Emma has also studied wellness coaching, learning from some of the world’s most respected names like Marisa Peer, Dr Joe Dispenza, and Tony Robbins. With this foundation, she takes a more holistic approach, helping clients build strength and develop a stronger mindset. The goal? To help you feel better inside and out, and maintain progress for the long haul.
Athlete Training Services We Provide
Excelling in any sport isn’t just about talent – it’s about consistency, smart training, and staying injury-free. That’s why working with an experienced athletic coach makes all the difference. At Fujiwhara Personal Training, we support athletes in building strength, improving performance, and recovering safely from setbacks.
Our sessions are designed with your sport in mind. Whether you’re training for endurance, speed, power, or agility, Emma creates personalised programs that work with your goals and physical condition. For athletes returning from injury, the focus shifts. We work to rebuild strength in weakened areas, support mobility, and maintain overall fitness, so you don’t lose your edge while recovering.
It’s not just about pushing harder – it’s about training smarter. That’s what helps you improve on the field while keeping your body strong and balanced off it.
Here’s how we do it:
Strength Training
We have designed our athlete strength training program to build power, stability, and functional strength. Each workout includes the use of free weights, kettlebells, dumbbells, and elastic stretch bands. This equipment provides the resistance needed to improve strength. Moreover, we also target the back muscles with specific exercises to reduce the risk of sprains and strains from twisting, bending, or lifting.
Speed and Agility Training
Regardless of the sport you play, speed and agility are key to leveling up performance. Our sessions can benefit amateurs and professionals alike in events that facilitate faster movement, quicker reactions, and control. Besides, our exercise routine can also: prevent injuries, increase cognitive function, boost coordination, and improve recovery times.
Endurance Training
Our endurance sessions help athletes stay in the game longer and perform at a higher intensity. The exercises here focus on improving cardiovascular stamina and muscular endurance. You’ll develop the capacity to sustain effort for longer, recover faster, and even push past your limits. All this is done safely with minimum risk of injury.
HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training)
Athletes should approach HIIT carefully to avoid overexertion while getting the most out of each session. Our fitness professional tailors the HIIT to your specific requirements. We’ll make sure that it complements your existing training program. It starts with manageable workouts and gradually increases in intensity as your fitness improves.
Injury Recovery
Sports injuries are a setback for both athletes and fitness enthusiasts. However, the right approach aids with faster recovery. Our coach, Emma, can guide you through the process and help you make a comeback sooner. She’s an expert in shoulder rehab, injury prevention exercises, and myofascial release techniques. So, every rehabilitation session will support healing and long-term strength building.

Take your athletic performance up a notch with our sports strength training coach. We offer advanced sessions that cover exercises to improve balance, coordination, and functional movement. These include BOSU Training, Weck Deck Training, Ski Erg & Echo Bike Workouts, Inertia Waves Exercises, Rope Flow Movement Practice, RMT Club Strength Training, and Pro Pulses Exercises.

Posted on Valeriya Zakharova2025-11-26 Emma is an amazing trainer and person, I’m glad I have made the decision to work with her 1:1. Emma has an individualised program for me to get from beginner to someone who is fit, toned and resilient. She is very knowledgeable, and what I like most is that the entire body gets a workout with every exercise. Thank you Emma!Posted on Andy Tran2025-11-16 Both my wife and I have been working with Emma for just over a month now and we can already see positive changes from Emma’s unique approach to strength and fitness training. We really enjoy the private classes where each session is very focus on our goals. Emma makes us feel very comfortable and we really look forward to every session. Look no further! Emma’s the one! Just read the other reviews…Posted on Vignesh S2025-06-26 I came to Fujiwhara to work with a personal trainer who could help me understand the fundamentals of strength training with an athletic focus, and to overcome lingering injuries. My goal has always been to stay fit for my family and the multiple sports I play, while also reducing the risk of injury. That hasn’t changed. Training with Emma has been a game-changer—her knowledge and ability to teach the basics has kept me on track with my goals and helped me make real progress. The gym itself has a fantastic vibe and all the equipment I need for my training. Since starting, I’ve learned so much—from proper weight loading for strength training to being introduced to the world of athletic movement like coiling and kettlebell fundamentals. One of the most memorable moments was when my chronic hip and ankle pain disappeared within two weeks of training—just goes to show how powerful the right guidance can be. I’ve already recommended Fujiwhara to many friends. Emma’s approach is fundamental, effective, and always tailored to our personal goals!!!Posted on Lisa Strong2025-06-22 I started training in March this year to improve my core strength and overall fitness. Emma was quick to work out my strengths and areas for improvement, and tailored a personalised program to help me reach my goals. My sessions are always enjoyable, lots of variety to keep it interesting, challenging my fitness, strength and balance. It has been great to move my body again and try new things. With a history of knee pain, Emma has been great at tailoring exercises to improve my strength in this area and I've noticed less pain & more stability, plus an improvement in my overall health. Emma is passionate, friendly, professional and supportive and I would highly recommend Fujiwhara to anyone.Posted on Diane Bloom2025-05-05 I saw a facebook post over 5 years ago and it was at a time when I knew I needed something for strength training to complement my fitness in my 50's. When I looked at the training it was simple but effective and not the usual gym grind. It was in a suburb on my way to work which was perfect, and then zoom came about which is so convenient to train at home. I started wanting to be stronger for the paddling, biking, golfing and other sports I do to keep fit and enjoy. I now focus more on the understanding that this is going to be a lifelong compliment to staying strong as I grow older gracefully. The program is individually catered and changes every training session but working on the same group of muscles that give me strength. The training is so convenient at home and Emma supports me with whatever my body is going through to keep the training going at my pace. I have learnt that core, back, glutes and leg strength is so important as I age. The most recent moment was returning from a 7 week break whilst overseas skiing. I thought backcountry and cross country skiing would keep me strong whilst not training. I was so wrong! Next time I'll zoom in on holidays! After my first session back I could feel every single muscle aching in the best way possible. It gave me the best reminder that strength training is a way of life. Highly recommend Emma and the training, especially from my own personal experience that I have benefited from.Posted on Noni Morrissey2025-04-28 I highly recommend Fujiwhara. This one of the best things I have done in years. Working with Emma has saved my knees, and everything else. The program is flexible, both in situ and online and Emma runs the show seamlessly keeping an eye on each exercise and performance. It is varied, interesting, at times incredibly difficult and always, always worthwhile. The best exercise you do is the exercise you do. I have not stopped recommending Fujiwhara to everyone I know. Fujiwhara is excellent particularly if you have any injuries, such as rotator cuff tears, back problems, all the niggles associated with growing old, or just doing too much when young. I cannot recommend Fujiwhara enough. A friend had been training with Emma from Fujiwhara and I had noticed a great improvement in her health and fitness. I was entering my 60s and becoming weaker and more unfit and I dislike gyms so was at a loss as to what to do. Fujiwhara held classes in the local park and online which was perfect for me. What I hadn't realised was just how life changing it would be. My health and strength has greatly improved over the many years I have attended Emma's classes, and continues to improve. I thought my main goal was to lose weight but what I discovered was increased strength in all my body. I had several injuries and had to be careful not to reinjure myself and Emma set up excellent exercises targeted at those areas of weakness. My goal now is to always exercise, lift weights and use bands and to never lose fitness. I love being able to train from home, I love the community feel of the classes and the great variation of exercises to target different areas of weakness. Training with Jujiwara I have learnt that even as an older woman I can become strong, lift weights, move with greater flexibility, improve balance - I have not fallen in 4 years thanks to Emma's balancing exercises. A great moment was when I could lift our very large cat and basket with ease into the car. If you could see my cat you would understand!Posted on Hala2025-04-11 I had an amazing experience training with Emma, she is incredibly knowledgeable, motivating, and attentive. I have started training mid-February and I can already notice a huge difference in my strength. From the very first session, Emma took the time to understand my needs and tailored workouts. What I appreciated most was her constant encouragement, she always believed I could do more. I haven’t been training for years and in just a couple of months , I’ve seen significant improvements. Emma genuinely cares about their clients' progress. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trainer!Posted on Vinisha Krishnan2025-03-11 When I first joined Fujiwhara more than a year back, I wanted to improve my overall strength and gain more energy throughout the day. As I started working with Emma, I realized that my goals expanded to improving my flexibility and focusing on functional fitness. What I love most about training with Emma is the variety and personalized approach. Emma always tailors the workouts to fit my progress and keeps me challenged while ensuring I'm always working safely. I remember the feeling of accomplishment and how Emma pushed me to believe in myself and go beyond what I thought I was capable of. I would definitely recommend Emma (Fujiwhara) to anyone looking for a supportive, motivating environment. It’s been a great experience, and I’ve improved so much more than I initially expected. Thank you Emma and can’t wait to smash more goals.Posted on Dishant Arora2025-03-04 I came to Fujiwhara because of back pain and wanted to improve my strength and mobility. Training with Emma has not only helped relieve my pain but also improved my posture and movement. My focus has now shifted from back pain relief to building strength overall. What I love most is Emma’s focus on technique and the way she incorporates exercises that are different from traditional workouts. The variety keeps training engaging and effective. I’d highly recommend training with Emma, to anyone looking to recover from pain, build strength, and move better.Posted on Hazel Lim-Lam2025-02-10 I've been training with Emma since 2013, and I can't recommend her enough! When I started, I was a complete beginner, but with her patience and clear instructions, I gained the confidence to exercise safely and effectively. In 2023, my 15-year-old son joined me for personal training. I wanted him to learn proper techniques from a professional to avoid injuries and bad habits, and I trusted Emma completely. Today, he still trains with her and also goes to the gym on his own, and I feel reassured knowing he has the right foundation. Recently, my 13-year-old daughter joined us. She was hesitant at first, but Emma’s encouragement and support made all the difference. Now, she’s gradually shifting her mindset and even looks forward to her sessions! Emma is an incredible trainer who genuinely cares about her clients. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, she’s the best person to guide you on your fitness journey!
